Carers Week 2026

Carers Week is an annual campaign that shines a light on the invaluable contribution of unpaid carers while raising awareness of the challenges they face every day.

This year’s theme, “Building Carer Friendly Communities”, focused on creating places where carers feel recognised, supported and able to access the help they need.

Across Rotherham, Sheffield and Doncaster, we were proud to deliver a fantastic programme of events that brought carers together to relax, connect and enjoy some well-deserved time for themselves.

From canal boat trips, afternoon teas and coffee mornings to information stands, community events, pop-up shops and a visit to Sheffield DocFest, the week was filled with opportunities to celebrate carers and showcase the support available.

More than 100 carers, professionals and community partners took part throughout the week.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make Carers Week possible, including:

Jason White and the team at NEXT

Ethel Trust Community Barges

Birley Moor Garden Centre

Grandpa Joe’s Potting Shed

Lakeside Village

Sheffield DocFest

Our volunteers, staff, partner organisations and community supporters

Most importantly, thank you to every unpaid carer. Your compassion, resilience and dedication never go unnoticed.

While Carers Week may have ended, our support continues throughout the year. If you or someone you know is caring for a family member, friend or neighbour, we’re here to help.
